This is Eknath Dhauskar from Mumbai. I done a Bsc. Computer Science from Mumbai University. Currently I am working in IT firm Accenture as a software engineer. I have total 2 years of IT experience.
Now I am planning to do further study through a distance learning mode. I am planning to take distance learning PGDBA from Welingkar Institute of Management studies, Mumbai. Will it help me in my career? Please advise.
I also heard that Manipal University offers distance learning MBA. Will it be a good option? The matter of concern is that Welingkar offers PGDBA & not MBA when compared to Manipal University. Which option should I choose? Please provide some help or suggestions.
Dear Eknath, You can prefer Manipal Uiversity because it’s good university before joing any university go through the websites of the differents universities ok. Thanks & Regards Snigdha Singh
hi! in my opinion it would be better for u to do an MBA form Manipal than to do an PGDBA bcoz an MBA is always better than PGDBA..more over manipal is a reputed university too...
Hi Eknath,
MBA in which specialisation ?? You are in mumbai, so why r u choosing Manipal University. Welingkar is having very good reputation in mumbai. You should go for that or otherwise you go to ICFAI , they are also offering Distance MBA. Even IGNOU is also good.
I have already done DHRM from Welingkar, Planning to do PGDHRM from Symboisis or Welingkars
Decision is yours.
Bye. Keep in touch.
Thanks a million to you all for your suggestions....I want to do MBA in Information Technology....
As I mentioned earlier, the matter of concern is the difference between PGDBA & MBA....Otherwise both institutes are good....
Hi Archana,
If you have already done DHRM, then why r u goin for PGDHRM from Symbiosis.I am also planning for DHRM, so plz let me know whether to go for DHRM from welingkar or PGDHRM from Symbiosis.
Please if anyone have any idea, then plz suggest me.
Dear friends MIT College offers various distance learning PG programms.Technical and Management also you may check it
Hi eknath,
This is Hardeep..if you've already made ur mind for MBA than go for it
But i just wanted to let u know that PGDBA course is as good as MBA cuz I'm the student of PGDBA,this is my 2nd year.
I think MIT college, pune is best for this course.
The validity for this course is 4 yrs.
U can choose your own time, place, date 4 yr exams..
Best part is there are 2 assignments per sub which includes option based questions..u get 24*7 online support.
Exams are online 1 hr per exam n if you're not satisfied with ur exam result u can reappear for the same.
anything else ur lookin for...........
keep in touch.:-D
Well Eknath,
If only certification is required then check for the college/university brand which is well known in the market.Since you are already working so this course is value addition.
Even IIM,Symbi,MIT they provide pgdba not mba,,but the brand are very much saleable...for these admission you may call to all these college and collect info.
All the best.
HI Eknath,
Please don't ever think of going to ICFAI. as the result of that institution is harldy 5%. Better fo for PGDBA from Welinkar. As you have already done your DHRM from
Welinkar, you will get 6-8 subject as a waiver and your duration of 2 yrs PGDBA will get over is 1.5 yrs span of time.
hi eknath and other friends,

let me first clear the difference between pgdba and mba, well pgdba and mba are one and the same... it goes like this whenever you do mba from any institute no matter you are doing full time course, part -time or distance learning you get pgdba certificate i.e whether welingkar, symbiosis, bajaj , IM(ahmdebad). and if u do mba from any university i.e icfai, pune uni, mum uni you will get mba certification . there is no difference in syllabus or curriculam neither the value in market.

rather than doing from any uni/coll which is originally from outside mum i suggest to do it from welingkar atleast you can visit coll if any prob.

please dont do from icfai read following.

HYDERABAD : The ICFAI rigmarole seems to be falling apart in Hyderabad and elsewhere as damaging court cases, adverse judgements and students' unrest have all started taking a heavy toll on the organisation called Institute of Chartered Financial Accountants of India.

According to a latest report the Andhra Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (APSCDRC) has found fault with the ICFAI University,

Hyderabad for not providing full information to a student at the time of his admission and ordered refund of fee to the concerned student.

Upholding the verdict of Warangal District Consumer Forum, the State Commission ordered the university to refund Rs 22,300, the tuition fee paid by the student, in addition to Rs. 5,000 compensation and Rs. 2,000 court costs within a month. The case was filed by a student named Md. Anwaruddin.

Md. Anwaruddin joined MBA programme, in distance education mode at the university’s Warangal study centre in December, 2003. He paid Rs 15,000 out of Rs. 51,500 and gave 10 post-dated cheques of Rs 3,659 each for the remaining tuition fee. By then, he was under the impression that he could attend contact classes at Warangal study centre. As classes did not commence even after the beginning date, he enquired about the same with the headquarters in February, 2004.

The university informed him that classes could not be conducted at Warangal and suggested him to attend classes at Hyderabad or to continue the course in "self-study" mode. Then the complainant withdrew from the course and demanded repayment of the fee. As the university turned down his request, he filed a case with the District Forum demanding the paid amount of Rs.22,300 with 12 per cent annual interest and Rs.1 lakh towards damages and costs.

The university contested the case saying that classes were not held at Warangal as there were not enough students. It said his withdrawal was not accepted since the provisions concerned do not allow such exit before clearance of post-dated cheques. It further argued that there was no deficiency in service since the provisions were clearly indicated in its distance education regulations.

However, the District Forum pointed out that the ICFAI had not provided any such details in the application form, nor did it define what the "requisite number" could be. When the ICFAI challenged the verdict in APSCDRC, the appeal was dismissed.

Sikkim Manipal University distance program is the best one for distance learning as I was also a student of Sikkim Manipal University distance program. It is accredited by government. SMUDE uses the latest edunxt technology to create a virtual classroom where you can interact with the faculty and students and thereby also network with other students, which is a unique and one of its kind feature amongst other colleges offering distance education. Hello eknath, I am agree with you that PGDBA is a best option after bsc and there are so many good distance learning institutes for PGDBA and Sikkim Manipal University of distance education is one of them. I am also doing my pgdba from SMUDE and on my personal experience, I can say that SMUDE is much better than other institutes because SMUDE uses the latest edunxt technology to create a virtual classroom where you can interact with the faculty and students and thereby also network with other students, which is a unique and one of its kind feature amongst other colleges offering distance education. Dear Eknath,
If you willing to do PGDBA or MBA then i suggest to go with Madurai University (Distance Education) as its has UGC granted and certificate is more valued then others..
Some Differences (IGNOU is Open university so certificate not much value then Distance Education)
(Manipal i beleived they just applied for UGC but still waiting for Grant)
All the best.
Hi All,
