one employee of our company was died on 10.06.2016 due to natural death at Re-Hospital,Hindmotor,west bengal but before death he was on leave at without pay from 01.05.2016 to till death. Now his spoue is applied for EDLI in Local EPF office but EPF office said that he is not eligible for getting EDLI because his last 2 months Salary (i.e. May'2016 & upto 9th June'2016)was not paid by company as well as no contribution is paid in epf against this member for last two months.I want to know the member's spouse wll get EDLI payment yes or no ? If yes, then what is the process for getting EDLI payment & also what type documents prove is necessary against the comment of LOcal EPF office for receiving EDLI payment.
Sir
not eligible is a wrong answerfrom p.f dept. U have not mentioned his service in ur company.how long he was paying not mentioned...pls open gpf mail and as k ur question feed back.....
Not paying company contribution is a wrong policy.....give the worker eligible leave and pay ur company contribution....
If the employee is a regular contributor of p.f.....dont bother of two months payments...if any p.f employee said like that is a half knowledged....shoot him out....go ahead through p.f netwebsite....ok....the employee family will get pension also...

The EDLI scheme benifits is linked to the average of the balance in PF account.
There is nothing in the scheme that provides for termination of benifits for not paying contribution few months before death.
i think it would be a good idea for you to visit the main PF office and speak to the PRO. If that is not helpful, you can meet the regional commissioner and complain against this. They are always pretty helpful.
