Dear All,

I'm a banker and I have been posted in a very remote village where there is absolutely no security for females. It lacks basic amenities like water, electricity, and a proper place to stay. Additionally, the main nearby village is about 15 kms away, and there is no transport available.

Please, please help me to draft a transfer request letter in this regard. I will be very thankful.

Thank you.

Dear Kirti, While the security of the women staff is of paramount concern, I would like to seek a little clarification on your post. Banks open their branches considering the volume of business. The consideration for opening branches in rural areas is more of a social service than an increase in business volume. However, one needs to know in which part of India your branch is located. If you mention that basic amenities such as water, electricity, transport facilities, etc., are not available, then how did the bank decide to open a branch in such a remote location?

Questions About Your Branch

How many months or years have passed since you started working in this branch? What are the rules of your bank regarding tenure in rural areas? What is the mandatory duration of stay to become eligible for such a posting?

For a person born and raised in urban India, it is very challenging to stay in rural areas due to the significant urban-rural divide. To become eligible for the posting, wait until you complete the required tenure. Completing the tenure will add credibility to your application. I'm not just providing a draft of the application; one must also consider the logical conclusion of the application. The logical conclusion depends on the mindset of the decision-maker at the head office of your bank.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
