I am working in a private limited company. I am 8 months pregnant, and I informed my company in the 3rd month of my pregnancy that I will be going on maternity leave. I am the only HR in the company and the first lady to go on maternity leave. I will be completing 3 years on 30th September 2014 with the same organization. Last week, I met with my doctor, and they informed me that due to my condition, they will be scheduling my delivery 3 weeks prior to my expected date. I reconfirmed with my directors to please inform me in writing about how much my maternity leave and benefits would be. Their response was that they will only provide 3 months of leave, and during that period, I will be entitled to only the basic salary. Please let me know the correct maternity benefits that I can demand, which should be legal for every company and employee. I have checked on this site itself, and it states that full wages are entitled, along with some medical benefits. Everyone, please let me know, as I am in trouble and under a lot of tension because of their decision.
Thanks a lot,
Rashmi

I think you may not be covered under the ESI Act, 1948, and may be claiming maternity benefits from your employer under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961. I suggest you read the following threads on this CiteHR website on the same subject. Perhaps these links may be relevant and helpful in your case:
