atulya_gYou can read Competence at Work by Spencer & Spencer . This is probably the best book on competency mapping and is used by major consultancies to implement the competency Model.
Let me know in case you have any questions.

I am doing research on CM and found the following books very helpful:
"The Handbook of Competency Mapping" by Seema Sanghi (Response Books -Sage)
"The Competencies Handbook" by Steve Whiddett & Sarah Hollyforde (Jaico Books)
"Competency & the Learning Organization" by Donald Shandler (Viva)
"Competency Based HRM" by Ganesh Sherman (TMH).
Hope it helps you, too.
there are a few good books on competency mapping.
I suggest you to refer, Competency Mapping Guide by Ganesh shermon else you can also refer to Spencer & Spencer. the former is more of use!!
Hope this helps.
all the best!
