Dear All, I would like to know about the medical tests which are mandatory as per Factories Act, as I am working in a Manufacturing Company.
We normally do the annual health check-up but nobody is cleared as these tests are serving our task. Hence you may pls share with me the test details which are compulsory by the govt.

Hi find tests, which are we conducting in our industry.
1. Detail History & Complete physical Examination
2. Electrocardiogram (ECG Computerised)
3. X-Ray Chest (Standard Size)
4. Audiometric test
5. Blood Group, Rh factor
6. Blood CBC, ESR, RBS
7. Urine Routine & Microscopic
9. HIV & HBS Tests.

If a young person (between 15 years to 18 years) is to be employed in a factory, he needs tobe subjected to medical examination to be certified by the Surgeon to be fit for work either at the instance of the factory manager or at the intsance of his parens.If the factory is one which enages itself in hazardous processes, it may have to get it's workers medically examined by the Factory medical officer once before employment and thereafter at periodical intervals as stipulated in the factory rules of the respective states.

As per factories act every year worker or plant staff should be get medically certified as he is fit for the work. Hence every year medical check up is compulsory but for this check up which all tests are mandatory pls guide me. Here i am giving below the test which are covering :
ECG
CBC ESR (Fully Auto Cell counter)
Blood Sugar Fasting / Post Lunch
S. Cholesterol
Urine Routine
Blood group & Rh
SGPT, SGOT
S. Creatinine, Blood Urea
Lung Function Test
Vision Test (Screening)
Complete Physical Examination
Audiometery

Thanks for the test detail, these are test are mendatory or we can remove some of them.
As we are covering following test for our medical check up but we are planning to remove some of them which are not required as per statute.

Dear Suchita,
Please vist your factory premises and understand the work process and list out the Hazardous chemicals consumed and polluting the environment by using raw materials, after come to the conclusion what are the tests required to conduct for your employees include contractor workers, for more information better you direct approach the Factory Inspector of your region.

To my knowledge, the medical examination varies as per the nature of manufacturing process and the job profile of an employee.for example, if the manufacturing process involves hazardous processes, the medical examination may involve chest X-rays.Similarly if the employee is a driver, he may have to under go vision test.If it is food industry, the hands of the employees may be periodically examined to check for skin diseases.The periodicity of medical examination may also vary. for example, if the factory involves Lead Process, the workers may have to be examined once in a month as per Maharastra Factory Rules.Therefore an employee may have to be put through all routine tests and also the special tests depending up on the job profile and nature of manufacturing process. The best option is to approach the Inspector of Factories and get the details of medical examination that is mandatory for your factory.
