Hi, I have 2 years of experience in a small franchise office as an assistant administrator and 2 years in ICICI Bank as an analyst. The franchise office has shut down. Now, my question is - as this office has shut down, how will HSBC verify it (I have a resignation letter on the letterhead of that office)? If they cannot verify it because the company has shut down, what effect will it have on me? I am also sure that the office is not registered as per the Companies Act because it's a small office that has operated in hardly two rooms. Please help me as I don't want to lose my opportunity with HSBC.

If that franchise is registered, there may be a chance that physical verification will be done by a third party. So, they will get the information anyway. If you are confident in everything, you can get through it. All the best.

I don't have any other relevant documents apart from my resignation letter. I'm quite nervous about the result of verification done by the third party. Please suggest to me in this regard. Thanks in advance.

If the company is registered, then your experience will be counted. Otherwise, they might not consider it as the company is not registered. If you want to showcase your experience, you can provide your reporting manager's number and seek his assistance so that he can manage the situation.

Yes, I have my ex-manager's number, but the landline number mentioned on the letterhead is not working. HSBC has not asked for any reference number from my previous office. How should I provide my manager's number? Will they call me after verification is done by the third party, or should I go and give it directly to HR?

Please do not worry about the previous company shutting down. You have nothing to do with that. The purpose of background verification is only to ensure that the candidate has given accurate information about themselves without any falsification, inadequate, or incomplete information.
There have been cases where some of the biggest corporations have shut down, so that does not mean the employees cannot apply elsewhere. The third party is going to verify the credentials of your previous company and will ensure whether it was a dubious company. They may speak to the ex-directors, previous vendors, employees, etc., and then submit a final report to your employer.
So, in all fairness, if your previous company was indeed in ethical business and you were working for them, you have nothing to worry about. We at Brightlist Global handle all kinds of Background Verifications.
