i fully agree with Vinay about the things he has mentioned to verify from the previous employer.
As per my opinion it depends upon the level at which you are recruiting a person. For senior level you can also check the following things:
1. Man Management skills
2. Leadership Qualities.
3. Integrity rating.
4. Ability to work under high pressure
It is always better if the reference is checked with the previous reporting authorities.

Please don’t show your company name (Alturki) over here. It is one of the bullshit companies in the world. As everyone know that your company is in a pathetic situation!!!Even I have seen your company’s recruitment mail which insists candidate to sign off a contract with six month notice period!!!Even rocket manufacturing companies not pushing their senior most scientist to sign off a contract with six months notice period dude!!!Furthermore, If my memory is right 6 years back your company stopped payment for workers as a result of financial crisis due to great management techniques!!!story continues in the same manner till today. More over alturki is nothing(small zero) infront of main subcontracting companies like Galfar al misnad, Arabian industries and Al Hassan. Then what reference check your company required for senior staff to execute ‘closet’ fitting and ‘bathroom door’ fitting projects!!!
