I want to know about EL, CL, SL, and other types of leave. Where can I read about this type of leave? I want to acquire knowledge about all types of leave, mainly EL, CL, SL. How many EL, CL, SL days can we take in one month, and who is eligible for EL, CL, SL? What are the conditions for taking EL, CL, SL? Can anybody provide me with information on leave?

Thanks and regards,
Ravinder Kumar

Leave is a very vast topic, and first of all, you have to clarify for which industry you want to know whether it is covered under the Factories Act or the Shop and Establishment Act and in which state your establishment/factory is located.

Hi Ravinder,

Breakup of Leaves

The breakdown of leaves is as follows:

- Total number of PL (Paid Leaves): 13
- Total number of CL (Casual Leaves): 7
- Total number of SL (Sick Leaves): 6
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Total: 26

- **PL:** Minimum of 3 PLs and a maximum of 5 PLs
- **SL:** You can club sick leaves as per your illness
- **CL:** You can take 1 CL at a gap of 2 months.

You cannot take PLs and CLs together.

At the end of the financial year, balance PLs can be encashed. However, if there are any balance SLs or CLs, these cannot be encashed or carried forward.

I hope this helps you.

Guidance on Types of Leaves

Can anybody guide me about the different types of leaves, e.g., the number of Casual Leave (CL), Sick Leave (SL), and Privilege Leave (PL) per year? I have been asked this question in different industries during interviews. Please provide a general overview.

Chhaya
