Dear Sir,

I have a query regarding the renewal of the CL(R&A) Act Registration Certificate. Is it mandatory to renew it every year? I believe that as a principal employer, once you obtain the RC, if any changes are required in the RC, you will need to make amendments. Am I correct?

For the principal employer registration, once made, amendments later on are sufficient. However, the contractor has to renew his license (it is a license and the former is registration) every year.

Dear Sudheer,

You are correct. The Contract Labour (R&A) Act, 1970, and Rules do not provide any provision or procedure for the renewal of the Registration Certificate. The applicable rules outline the procedure for amending the RC.
