Hi Sapan,

HRA is always deducted from the basic salary; the percentage of deduction depends on the company policy and can be either 30% or 40% of the basic salary. Additionally, PF deduction is 12% of the basic salary, contributed by both the employee and the employer.

Hello All, I want to know about HRA calculation for salary break up. How much % is HRA of Basic or Gross? Is the minimum wage inclusive of Basic+HRA in Delhi & Punjab? As per the new judgment of the Supreme Court, PF is calculated on Basic + DA + Other fixed monthly allowances. If someone is drawing a gross salary of 50000/- per month with the breakup for Punjab Shop & Establishment employees as Basic: 10800, HRA: 7500 (15% of Gross), VMA: 5000, and Other Allowances: 26700/-, then should PF be deducted on the maximum limit of Rs. 15000/- or on Rs. 42500/-? Please suggest. In my opinion, it should be deducted on 15000/-.
