I am an english trainer with four years of experience in teaching spoken english, grammar and communication skills. I have done M.A in English Literature. I want to develop my skills and work in the top most institutes like T.I.M.E and others. But i heard that one should have some more skills like reasoning etc to work there. I am just an english trainer and dont have much knowledge about other fields. I am just not happy with the pay I am getting.
Please guide me.

Dear mbegum,
Please tell us how much pay will satisfy you? As far as I know, when we get more pay we want more of it. Are you satisfied with what you are doing?
I read your message aloud to my wife and she was perplexed to note that a Mater degree holder and a teacher did not not have knowledge of reasoning skills. Please access the following websites to update yourself on what are Reasoning Skills
<link no longer exists - removed> Non-Verbal Reasoning Test found at Google
I am sure you will agree that you know what they are and have used them too.

Hello sir,
Thank you for replying. I have been teaching spoken english and grammar all my career. and recently when i gave an interview at a reputed institute, they gave a test which included reasoning as well as English. and i couldn't qualify that as i never saw any reasoning question paper earlier.
As far as pay is concerned, i believe one should get enough to honor one's commitments.
I am not greedy.
Anyways thanks for guiding me to the website.

One advantage you have is you are an English teacher and therefore you can comprehend a problem described in English much easier and much faster than those who are not well equipped in English. This is half battle won by you when compared to those with lesser skills of speaking and understanding English nad have to make double the effort of yours.Then next question is how to crack the problems or puzzles based on reasoning. Reasoning skills are not any special skills that can by acquired by any special class of persons. we entertain many myths like that this kind of puzzles can be cracked by only those who have science and maths or engineering brack ground.First it is necessary to blast this myth if any, entertained by you since it creates the first mental block that prevents you from moving further in your efforts to master the reasonng skills. These skills are based on commonsense and basic level of maths which any one is familiar with.

The key to crack these puzzles will be based in most cases on a particular pattern or method. You need to understand this key. To understand this key, you need to be :

1) patient and spend some time on each puzzle initially to understand the key;

2) use your common sense and try to think differently but not mechanically;

3) Practice these puzzles daily in given time slot since parctice only can make you perfect and the more you practice , the more you gain perfection and probably in your next attempt, you will come out with flying colours

Therefore start from now and get hold of a good book on test of reasoning and be a winner

All the best
