Dear Members,
Good Morning/Afternoon.
I am in a big problem; I work as an HR Generalist in ESn software technology, where the company's strength is almost 200 employees. I have been tasked with preparing payroll inputs for employee payroll processing. This role is completely new for me. Kindly help with your comments. What payroll inputs do I need to provide for calculations? Please share any software copies you have so that it will be easier for me to understand the process.
Warm Regards,
Shekar

Hi Shekar,
Payroll is the salary processing system.
Payroll can be seen from two aspects: one from the HR side and the other from the commercial people side. The HR personnel process the payroll by sending attendance details or, more precisely, Leave Without Pay (LWP) details and other complete information that an employee is entitled to receive in a particular month.
After receiving these details, the commercial team starts entering them into the payroll software, initiating the salary processing.
During the salary processing for a specific month, we, the HR staff, provide comprehensive LWP details to the commercial department.
When calculating LWP, we prepare the attendance sheet with the weekly offs. Besides the weekly offs, we verify the number of days an employee is absent, as well as how many days they were on leave, cross-referencing this information with leave applications. If an employee has submitted an approved leave application and has sufficient leave balance, we mark them on leave.
However, if an employee has not submitted the leave application or has no leave balance left, they will be marked as absent for that day, and their salary will be deducted accordingly.
Likewise, if there is a provision to provide one day's extra salary for a specific day if an employee shows up, we calculate one day's additional salary for those employees present on that day.
I hope this clarifies the process for you.
