Hey Friends,

Can anybody guide me on what HR can do to foster innovation and motivation within an organization (especially in an IT company) without incurring any expenses?

Except for activities like picnics, games, quizzes, trainings, workshops, etc., what other strategies can be implemented?

All are welcome to share their ideas.

Thanks,
Priya.

Hi Priya,

Have a gala time with a dance, music, singing program, or competition among your team members. Create groups and let them participate in singing, music, and dance competitions. Appoint a judge to evaluate their performances.

Believe me, it's FUN!!!

Hi,

Try to celebrate the festivals and also decorate the office on the festival days. Additionally, consider having traditional day celebrations or other themed events. Employees enjoy such activities.

For example, in my company, we organized a kite-flying competition for two hours after regular working hours. We also held competitions between teams, with members selected from various projects.

Don't forget to take plenty of pictures and share them with everyone! 😛 😂

Hi Dear,

To motivate your employees, try to solve their grievances in a timely manner as much as possible. By doing so, employees will automatically experience job satisfaction, which serves as a form of motivation.

Hi,

Create a forum for fun activities. Invite people from the company to be part of the committee and have them organize games or sports activities in the office. Alternatively, you can organize a treasure hunt in the office.

Hi All,
If you want to motivate your employees then firstly, they should get the feeling of belonging. However, this feels develops over the period.
Now answering your question – How can we increase the motivation of our employees by having fun activities?
Every MNC or a corporate company will celebrate their founder's day or annual day, on that day you can divide teams like sales team, operation team, HR team ( you can also ask them to name their team) if you can mix team within the organization like HR and Production team, ADMIN and Finance, give them one common theme like corporate set, slum setup, pub culture etc, so that they can work on that theme and decorate their cubicle. You can nominate one of your top heads to come over and have a look around at each cubicle and nominate the winner.
If you find this activity useful then I will try sending more such activities.
All the best,
Regards

Hi Everybody,

For all kinds of entertainment we can create in our company, it will definitely yield good and positive results. We have to allocate one day in a year called "Company Day." On that day, all the family members of the employees should participate in the wonderful event. This will bring them pleasure and also demonstrate that there is no partiality between management employees and workers.

Additionally, if there is a family function or any unfortunate incidents occurring in an employee's home, one of the management representatives should visit and participate. This gesture will foster a positive atmosphere and enhance relationships. Give it a try, and you will realize its benefits.

Other events, which would need little harmonization, many MNC companies are stepping into social activities and social services, off late in Chennai we had a event but unfortunately this event was held by some foreign origin students, who came down to Chennai took themselves to the streets and slums and did a lot of cleaning up stuff – when I heard about this events I didn't feel very good.

We are from the HR community, we shouldn't restrict ourselves within four walls, we can organize events, where we can call students who are underprivileged, physically challenged students, we can spend few hours in a week to train some survival skills like spoken English, tally, computer skills (MS office), and to perform the above activity we don't need any management support.

I guess that would give us different dimension in experiencing life.

Normally, when I speak to HR guys from different industry I see that being a HR person , they find 100's of reason to reject a guys like (poor communication skills, longevity, attitude.,.,) but I guess HR means you should find 100's of reason to say why can't I select a guys , Understanding the fact that HR people have to work under immense pressure and tight schedule's, I understand things like this would be too much to ask - - - that's why HR people are respected across any industry.

Hi All,

Besides whatever has been shared earlier in the form of more cultural events, for motivation and retention, you can frame policies such as:

1. Employee referral scheme for recruitments.

2. Employees' value-added higher education scheme.

3. Incentive schemes.

4. Suggestion Schemes.

5. In-house interactive training sessions comprising new learnings, presentations, management games, quizzes, etc.

6. Celebrate employees' birthdays, employees' marriage anniversaries, and give them a gift/dinner coupon/movie tickets, etc., along with a complimentary half-day leave/2 hours short leave to enjoy the day with family.

7. A token sum to an employee on his/her marriage.

8. Recognition of outstanding achievements of employees' children's talents (various activities such as GK, Art, Scientific models, Games, and Sports, etc.).

9. Organizing Healthy baby shows by conducting competitions (age group-wise), spouse's dish cooking competition, and more activities involving families of employees regardless of levels.

10. Develop schemes to support the outstanding children of your employees in attaining higher/professional education with the aim to absorb them into your company.

But all depends on the outlook of your top management.

These are some of the tested and tried ways and means.

I have formalized some of the schemes already in place.

Thank you.

Hi Friends,
Thanks for the brilliant IDEAS.
Parvez good to know that you have placed many motivation policies in ur co. But in my company the major problem is Shift timings and 2nd main problem is Employee's attitude, 3rd problem is top management don't believe/ trust is such activities. Nobody want to spent time, efforts in all these things and this is a BIG problem for me where I feel helpless.

Priya.

Hi Priya,

To motivate employees and develop an association of employees with the company, you can have personalized Birthday Cards for all the employees signed by the Head of the Organization and HR Head.

Warm regards,
Neha
