Hi Friends,

Very good day! I want to know more about two management techniques - CPM & PERT - and what is the difference between the two. These are used to define and coordinate various activities of a project and successfully accomplish the objectives on time.

CPM analysis is activity-oriented, focusing on the start and completion of events rather than activities, whereas PERT is event or job-oriented.

Sandeep

Hi Friends,

I am Shankar Manohar, working at Wipro Technologies and pursuing my MBA in HR through Correspondence.

I have the following problem with the Pert Concept and am seeking a detailed solution. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated for my academic endeavors.

Activity Predecessor Duration(weeks)
a m b
A -- 6 7 8
B -- 1 2 9
C -- 1 4 7
D A 1 2 3
E A,B 1 2 9
F C 1 5 9
G C 2 2 8
H E,F 4 4 4
I E,F 4 4 10
J D,H 2 5 14
K I,G 2 2 8

a) Construct Project Network
b) Find Expected Duration and Variance of each activity
c) Find the critical path and expected Project Completion time
d) Probability of Completing the project by 25 weeks.

Thank you.
