Well.
First, decide what you shall be providing the summer interns - such as equipment, stipend, etc. Write them down. Also, write the terms and conditions to which the trainee has to adhere while in your organization. Remember, interns are not your employees, but they can be talented and maybe your future employees. So, treat them well. They are just freshers (most of the time) with zero knowledge of the practical work, so be understanding towards them in this regard.
Hope this was helpful.
Regards.

Hi HR Disciple,
Thank you for the inputs. It has been observed in my company that interns are being hired from all types of sources - be it business schools, referrals, etc. I want to have well-drafted regulations on the same. Can you shed more light on this?

The best way to get information on this is to get in touch with someone who has done a Summer Internship and obtain the authorization letter that the organization provides to them.
As I mentioned, first decide on what you are going to provide to the interns, such as equipment, stipend (depending on the department they are placed in).
Include in the document a clause stating that your organization shall not be held liable for anything, and providing a summer internship is simply a gesture on your part.
If possible, obtain summer intern letters from MTNL/BSNL or MARUTI, as they have all rules drafted in the letters they provide to interns.
Good Luck.

Hi,
I am a new member in this forum. Can anyone please help me with the exit letter of the internship? The one drafted by me was not acceptable to the management. So I am looking for options.
