Leave Entitlements in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi

Please let me know how many casual leaves one can take in a month. Also, please correct me on the entitlement of EL (Earned Leave), CL (Casual Leave), and SL (Sick Leave) as per the law in Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi.

As per my knowledge:

1. Entitlements Under the Shop and Establishment Act

i) In Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, under the Shop and Establishment Act, employees are entitled to 18 earned leaves, 7 casual leaves (totaling 25), and an additional 7 sick leaves out of ESI, making a total of 32 per annum.

ii) In Delhi, employees are entitled to 15 earned leaves, 12 sick leaves, and casual leaves (totaling 27 leaves) for both with and without ESI.

2. Carrying Forward Earned Leaves

Only earned leaves can be carried forward in both states: up to a maximum of 30 days in Punjab and up to 45 days in Delhi.

3. Leave Encashment

There is no rule on leave encashment as long as the employee is in employment. However, if an employee leaves the job for any reason, they are entitled to encashment of unavailed leaves up to the maximum mentioned above, at the latest salary drawn at the time of leaving.
