Hi, I'm currently not employed and have applied for a PF transfer from my second last company to the previous company so I can place a withdrawal request. After two weeks, the claim got rejected with the following reasons: MEMBER WAGES ARE RS 15,000 OR LESS, WHY EPS NOT DEDUCTED, PLEASE CLARIFY. CLAIM ALREADY SETTLED. Could someone guide me on how to approach this situation and get my money? Thanks in advance.

Even though your salary was higher than Rs. 15,000, the employer should have shown the basic pay alone as the PF qualifying salary, which would be less than Rs. 15,000. At the same time, the employer might not have contributed to your Pension Fund but instead should have remitted the entire 12% of their contribution to PF alone. To rectify this, the employer will have to initiate and submit a revised ECR with payments reflecting the pension fund as well.

The second reason for rejection, that the claim has been 'settled,' is to be addressed to EPFO only because nowadays the EPFO will ask such funny questions. One cannot reject a claim quoting a reason (that the employer has not contributed to EPS) and at the same time say that the EPFO has already paid or settled the amount.

(Fact Checked)-Your explanation is accurate and helpful. The employer needs to submit a revised ECR to rectify the issue. The 'settled' claim issue should indeed be addressed to EPFO. (1 Acknowledge point)
