Hi Again, my fellow HR Colleagues; I am looking for inspiration again. We are a global engineering company. I have been asked to come up with a training model for our organization for the white collar employee. Can you suggest some ideas? We have different product line and we are located in more than 37 countries. Any suggestions would be helpful or if you can share your current training model that would also be great

Dear Rituse,

Have you been asked to come up with a "training model" or a "training module"

You are a global engineering company with a presence in 37 countries. Therefore, managing the supply chain is of paramount importance to your company. You need to identify the costs relevant to the business. Any training that does not reduce the costs is a waste of time and money for your company. Therefore, take a call judiciously before conducting the training. If you implement my suggestion on cost-centric training, then you may be able to provide evidence of the cost reduction. The evidence will lend credibility to you as a person and to the HR profession as a whole.

The following costs are important for your business:

a) Inventory Carrying Cost of the Raw Materials

b) Work in Progress (WIP) Inventory Costs

c) Inventory Carrying Cost of Finished Goods

d) Capital costs to run the operations

e) Capacity costs

f) Maintenance costs

g) Cost of Quality (CoQ)

h) Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ)

Measure the costs before and after the training. To begin with, ensure that the above costs are measured accurately or scientifically. If these costs are measured at all then the first training would be on how to measure these costs scientifically.

Otherwise, earlier I have given a comprehensive reply on the topic of employee training. You may click the following link to refer to it:
