Hi, this is Bikram. I joined HDFC Bank Ltd. on 6th April 2023. On 11th April 2023, after working for only two days, I decided to leave the job. However, HR is saying they will mark me as absconding if I leave without serving the notice period. Will being marked as absconding affect my banking career in the future?

I think you already know the answer to that question. Absconding is likely to affect many careers you wish to pursue in the future. Already, you have proven to be unreliable in the eyes of future employers. It costs money to recruit and onboard new staff. Your HR has every right to be angry about your actions.
Discussion on Absconding
We have at least 2 or 3 posts every week here on CiteHR about absconding. It is a subject that has been discussed extensively, yet people keep engaging in it, despite knowing it is wrong.
Questions to Consider
Why did you leave? Did you do your due diligence on the bank before you accepted the offer to join it? In the future, you will need to take more care in choosing who you wish to work for.

Dear Bikram Sah,
Career decisions should be handled with due sensitivity. Just two days after joining, if someone approaches HR and starts expressing their desire to quit the company, what is HR supposed to do? Upon the abandonment of employment, HR will not only mark you as absent but could also send you a legal notice for not paying the notice period. Are you financially prepared to handle or contest a legal case?
Dear gentleman, I recommend that you try to reconcile with the situation. What exactly occurred that prompted you to consider separating from an organization that is a prominent national brand? Remove any negative thoughts from your mind. If you have received another offer, I suggest you disregard it.
When making a decision, consider the potential long-term implications. Rushing into decisions hastily can sometimes prove to be costly.
Thanks,

Dear Bikram-Sah, As you are aware, understanding what is important to you, your values, interests, and skills will make decision-making easier. I would suggest that you adhere to the notice period specified in the duly signed appointment letter, or alternatively, you can opt to pay the recovery amount in lieu of the notice period.
Hi, why do you want to quit even without information? Do you have any justifying reason behind your decision? Have you thought about the future implications if you abscond without any information?
Whatever reason or justification you may have, it is not a wise decision to quit without proper information. Stick to your current employment for some time. Maybe after 6 months or 1 year, if you still feel like you do not fit into the workplace culture, submit your resignation with a proper notice period and get relieved properly.
Many youngsters dream of a career in banking, and you have the opportunity to join a bank, so think carefully before you decide to quit.
