Dear Rahul, Yes, you are eligible under the Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) scheme of 1976 if the deceased member was in continuous employment for 12 months prior to their death.
To claim EDLI benefits, the following supporting documents are required:
- The death certificate of the insured person
- A copy of the cancelled cheque (the claim amount will be remitted to this account)
- Succession certificate (a copy of the succession certificate is necessary if the legal heir of the deceased files the claim)
- Guardianship certificate (if the claim is submitted on behalf of a minor legal heir or nominee by a guardian, a legal certificate is needed)
- Duly filled Form 5 IF or the EDLI claim form.
Thank you.
