Hi, I have joined a Medical Store to meet my daily requirements, but I have not been given any payslips or salary certificates. I'm paid 5,000 rupees per month in cash, and there is no proper documentation for it. Since my salary is low and paid in cash, there are no EPF, TDS, etc., deductions in my case. I was not familiar with income tax rules at that stage of my life and did not file any tax returns as my salary was only 60,000 rupees per annum.

I have now received an offer from a reputable MBA college and decided to pursue my MBA. I am concerned about the background check because I lack proper documentation. Although I have obtained an experience letter/certificate, when I contacted the Medical Store owner, he mentioned it is impossible to provide me with these documents as it has been 2 years since I left the job.

How to prove credibility without proper documentation

How should I proceed to prove my credibility in this situation?

As per the details provided, you are currently studying for an MBA. Why are you worried about BGV?

If you are looking for those documents to be produced for future employment, the experience certificate you have is enough. Many pharmacists provide salary to their employees in cash unless it is a pharmacy chain.

If possible, get a salary certificate from your previous employer.

Hi, I worked as a Community Pharmacist in a medical store after completing my B. Pharmacy in 2017 for 1.9 years. During that time, I received a low salary of 5,000 rupees, and it was paid in cash without any proper documentation such as a pay slip or salary certificate. Due to the low salary, there were no PF deductions, and I did not file any income tax returns as my annual salary was only 60,000 rupees. At that point in my life, I was unaware of the importance of pay slips and tax returns.

In 2019, I enrolled in an MBA program and was selected by a multinational corporation (MNC) through campus placement. However, I am concerned about the background check verification (BGV) that the MNC will conduct regarding my previous employment. While I possess an experience letter from the medical store owner, I have encountered difficulties in obtaining additional documents as it has been three years since I left the job. The store owner mentioned the challenges in providing the requested documents due to the time elapsed.

I am seeking guidance on how to approach this situation and validate the accuracy and authenticity of my prior employment details.

ESI and PF Applicability in Organizations

As per labor law, in an organization, ESI applicability falls if there are a minimum of 10 manpower, and PF is applicable when there are 20 manpower. Hence, in a pharma store, if that much manpower is not there, then these rules are not applicable. I hope you were gaining only hands-on experience as a fresher/trainee, so don't bring the law in between. I feel you are scared for some other reason.
