Hello, I am looking for a sample policy for not allowing teams to use mobile phones on the floor. Would appreciate any inputs on the same.

Particularly for BPO teams, we would like to prevent the usage of camera phones. Employees should not be able to take screen photos.

Dear Atul Nipankar,

To prohibit the use of mobile phones in the workplace, I found that other BPOs provide lockers to their employees. Employees are required to keep their phones in safe custody, and after completing their duty, they can take out the phone and carry it with them.

Another option I came across was to block the camera using the company's security tape. This way, employees can use smartphones without a camera.

Despite these suggestions, if you are concerned about employees taking unauthorized photos of the screen and accessing information, the effectiveness of these measures remains uncertain. Nowadays, spy cameras are available at very low prices, such as Rs 1,500. There are various spy devices like pens, watches, lockets, etc. Even if the ban is on camera phones, preventing the carrying of spy pens or watches may be challenging. Those intending to access and leak information will find ways to do so.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
