One of my acquaintances has not been attending work at his company since April 1st until May 31st due to personal reasons without providing any information. Consequently, the company has recorded his absences as NCP days in the Provident Fund. Subsequently, he submitted his resignation dated May 20th on June 5th. Now, he is seeking to determine the date of his exit. Which date should he consider as the date of exit in the Provident Fund - June 5th, May 20th, or May 31st?

Determining the Exit Date for Provident Fund
The date on which he was relieved from service by the company should be the exit date in the Provident Fund (PF). If the company has not marked the exit, the member himself can mark the exit by visiting his portal. The only thing to be noted is that the date of joining the new company should not be earlier than the date of exit from the previous company. If he has not joined any company, the date of exit is irrelevant. As such, you can even put 5th June.

Date of Relieving or Exit Calculation
The date of relieving or exit should always be calculated based on the resignation date. Please include the notice period that needs to be served by the employee in this calculation.
The date of receipt of resignation is 05-June-2020. Please calculate the notice period from this date. Also, please check with the exited employee if he or she has taken up any dual employment. If a company has not legally relieved an employee, it is illegal for them to join another organization. If you have already relieved the employee, then the Date of Exit (DOE) should be marked by you as 05-June-2020. It is the responsibility of the organization to facilitate marking the DOE on the UAN Portal.
