I'm working in a startup IT company. Here, we don't maintain a proper increment procedure for employees. For example, increments are given after 3 months, 6 months, or after the probation period, and the next increment is given one year from the date of the first increment. Consequently, employees feel disappointed if someone who joined at the same time receives an increment.

We also have trainees to whom we provide a stipend, informing them that it will be increased based on their performance. I want to change this procedure in a proper way without causing disagreement among employees and trainees. Can anyone provide the best solution in this regard and advise me on how to create a proper increment process that will be helpful?

I am not clear about your name, place of posting, and company name. However, the best answer to your query is to introduce a performance appraisal system. It is not advisable to give employees an increment every 3 months/6 months. Make a uniform policy on this and give an increment irrespective of caste, creed, age, sex, etc. Prepare an increment slab and link this with a performance rating. For further details, you can contact me.
