Dear Friend,

I am working as an HR in a small IT company, basically in Marketing & Sales in Mumbai. There was no HR Dept. before I joined. I have recruited 6 candidates for Sales and Pre-Sales positions. Can anybody help me with how to introduce Performance Appraisal here, especially for salespeople?

You need to define what you would like to appraise. What will be the parameters of the appraisal? What will be the appraisal cycle? How will appraisal scores be rewarded? Try to make it objective and not subjective. Communicate this to all employees. If possible, have a debate on this. But before that, do your homework. Define clearly what you want to appraise, when you want to appraise, and how you want to appraise.
