Hi,
I am working at a Bangladeshi Satellite TV Channel named BanglaVision. In our organization, employees are entitled to annual leave as follows:
- CL = 10 Days
- SL = 14 Days
- EL = 16 Days (effective from the confirmation date)
I want to know if employees on the probation period are eligible to receive CL & SL. In my organization, there is no specification about this.
Looking forward to your valuable comments.

Leave policies prevailing in organizations vary from one to another. In PSUs (Public Sector Undertakings), leave entitlement generally differs only in the case of trainees. Probationers, who are typically placed on a one-year probation period, receive the same leave credit as confirmed employees. At times, a graded leave credit is provided based on the length of service within different slabs.

Hi,
It depends on the company's HR policy. As per the rules, employees under probation are allowed to take only one leave per month. Taking more than one leave will result in being placed on LOP. In special cases, such as hospitalization, employees will need to provide supporting documents.

Leave policies vary from organization to organization. As per statutory requirements, employers are only obligated to provide earned leave, which amounts to one day off for every 20 days worked (minimum). However, in general practice, many employers also offer additional sick leave (SL) and casual leave (CL).

This depends on the INTERNAL LAWS of the organization. First of all, you should check the Labour Laws of Your Country and secondly check which kind of people are covered by these Laws. Our Country's Labour Laws covers only the persons who are called "WORKMEN"; others are covered by the Appointment Letter issued by the employer.
As you have stated that your organization has rules regarding the number of paid leaves, check where your company has made this rule.
If there is no regulation in this regard, then make a policy named Leave Policy and explain the rules & regulations in detail. You can consult the market of your nearer areas, but your policy should not break the regulations of Labour Laws of your land in workers' case. For Supervisors & Above, you can make rules with the consultation of your top management on whether employees will be allowed such leaves during probation or not. You can say this is at the discretion of the management.
But if you allow your employees during probation, this will not break the regulation/s of any law.
Hope all this information will be sufficient on this topic.

Leave policies differ from organization to organization. In some companies, employees under probation are not allowed any leaves, whereas in some, they are eligible only for SL, and in a few, they are eligible for CL and SL. Employees under probation are not eligible for EL.
