Hi all, I am working in a private company. Until December 2016, deductions for mediclaim were taking place. However, from January, two deductions started - one for mediclaim and the other for education. The HR department is stating that this is mandatory as per the government regulations since your salary falls between 15 to 21k.

Please assist on whether it is possible to stop one of the deductions.

Understanding ESI Deductions

It is not mediclaim; it's ESI. Now, ESI is deducted from the salary up to ₹21,000. You can refer to the notification http://www.shramsamadhan.com/2016/12...ification.html.

Benefits of ESI

Also, to understand the benefits of ESI, you can refer to http://esisimplified.blogspot.in/201...procedure.html.
