Hi, I have been working for the last 15 years, and my PF has been deducted for the past 14 years. I have never stayed in any company for more than 9 years at a stretch. I have filled out a PF withdrawal form. Will I also get EPS withdrawn, or will I receive a service certificate? The rule, as I understand it, states that I should be in EPS for less than 10 years to get a refund, but it does not specify if it should be less than 10 years with the same company or even with different companies. In the past, I have always had my PF transferred; however, this time, I have requested a withdrawal.

The period of 9 years refers to the total period during which the PF account is active. So since you have been active for 15 years, you are eligible for pension and can't take the money in lump sum.
You cannot withdraw the PF amount unless you have decided not to work anymore. In all other cases, you need to transfer the PF to another employer.

Understanding PF Withdrawal and Pension Options
When submitting a PF Withdrawal Form, you will encounter options regarding the pension amount and period. If you choose to take the Scheme Certificate, you will receive this certificate. Upon reaching the eligible age for receiving the pension, you must submit the certificate to the PF office along with other required formalities. Based on the certificate and other documents, you will receive your pension.
However, if you are covered under PF in your current or future job, you can add the Pension Fund to your existing PF. By doing so, the pension period and pension wages will be included in your current PF, which will strengthen your case for the pension amount.
Please note, these suggestions are based on my experiences and other comments on the topic. Fellow members can correct me or add valuable comments.

The 10 years of service will count even if it is in different companies but under the same UAN. If you have worked for 9 years in one company and then joined a new company with the same UAN, even though the PF number differs, the total service can be counted as 14 years. In such a case, you are eligible for a pension, and you cannot withdraw the EPS amount.
However, if you have two UAN numbers from two different companies, you can withdraw your EPS amount since the service (9 years) is not continued in the new company and is less than 10 years. Therefore, you would not be eligible for a pension.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Prathap,
Previously, there was no concept of UAN, so I had different PF numbers for different PF accounts. Since UAN was introduced, I have worked in the same company for 8 years and 10 months before leaving the job. In that case, do you think I will get the EPS amount? If yes, do I need to do anything apart from filling the required forms and sending them, which I have already done?
Thank you.

UAN and PF Withdrawal Process
Even though the UAN concept was not there previously, a UAN will be allotted for all PF numbers. Your last company's PF number will now have a UAN. You can check it at the link below: http://uanmembers.epfoservices.in/check_uan_status.php by entering the required details. I believe you may now have two UANs. Please proceed with the same process for PF withdrawal using Form-19, Form 10C, along with your Aadhaar card and a cancelled cheque with your name printed on it. Feel free to call me if you need any further clarification.
