Hi all, I work as an HR in a product-based software company. I want to understand the leave calculation. Below are the details:

Leave Calculation for Marriage

We give an employee leave for 1 week for marriage. For example, an employee's wedding is on 18th August. He is planning to apply for leave from 15th August to 31st August. In between, we have 2 holidays and 4 Sundays. (Monday) 15th August is a holiday, and 18th August is a holiday as it's Independence Day and Rakshabandhan.

So, how many days should the leave be calculated for? Please help me.

Thanks and regards, Shanthi

Do you have a leave policy? What does it say about the sandwich leave policy? If you don't have a policy, there are two options:

1) As per the leave rules, if any employee avails leave between Friday and Monday, it shall be treated as four days of leave.

2) Many companies favor employees. If an employee avails leave between Friday and Monday and you work five days a week, it will be considered two days of leave. If you work six days a week, then it's three days of leave.

You can calculate accordingly by consulting top management. It's always advisable to have a clear leave policy to avoid confusion. If you need more information, you can reach me.

In general, most of the companies follow the process like: In case of Casual & Sick leave, the intervening holidays & weekly offs are considered to be part of leave. In case of Earned Leave, they are not part of leave.
