I have been working in a firm for the past year. However, I had to resign from my position due to some personal issues for a period of three months. Subsequently, I rejoined the same organization. In my first month back, I had to take sick leave for six days. Unfortunately, HR did not approve my leave as I was still on probation. To my surprise, they deducted half a day's salary for being 1-2 minutes late. While I understand these actions, I am concerned that they have not provided a detailed explanation for the deductions via email. From what I know, it seems that they are deducting a larger portion of my salary than expected.
I am requesting a breakdown of the salary deductions, which I believe is a reasonable request. My total monthly in-hand salary is 11,000 (PF-943 and ESI-573). Could you please advise me on how much my salary should be after deductions for six full days and six half days? I am uncertain whether these actions align with HR policies or are specific to this particular HR representative. I am also puzzled by the practice of deducting half a day's salary for being a few minutes late, especially when we are required to stay until tasks are completed beyond regular working hours.
Please advise on the best course of action in this situation.
Thank you.

Hi,
What is the leave and attendance policy of the company? Generally, companies give some CL during the probation period. If employees are a couple of minutes late daily, the company might not deduct their salary. There should be an option such that if an employee exceeds 30 minutes late per month, then the company can deduct the salary. Only if we know the gross salary can we calculate the salary to be received.

As you mentioned, if you rejoin, yes, you are not eligible for PL until your probation period is over again. As per my suggestion, you should ask for the salary slip where all deductions will be mentioned.
Calculation: 11000/30*24 = 8800 - PT (200) - PF (943) - ESIC (153) (as per the rule, it should be 1.75%) for a half-day. You should ask HR to clarify the late-coming policy.
