Dear all,
We are from a manufacturing industry and require ESI coverage for our workers. We have approached the ESI office in Hyderabad numerous times, but they have informed us that our unit is not covered in the ESI area. Our workers are continuously asking us about ESI coverage. Kindly suggest how we can provide ESI coverage to our workers who earn under 15k.
Thank you.

Requesting ESI Coverage for Your Unit
You may send a request to the appropriate Regional/Sub Regional Office of ESIC having jurisdiction in your area to confirm in writing whether your unit/factory falls within an implemented area. If it does, you can request an inspection to examine its coverage under the ESI Act, 1948, and the rules/regulations framed thereunder.
In case the appropriate office informs you that the area where your unit/factory is located is not within any of the implemented areas, you can request the said office to examine the extension of coverage of the said Act in your area. This process could take a long time as the department will need to assess the total number of employees to be covered in the area and the necessary medical arrangements to be made. You can also send your requests to the ESIC Headquarters Office.
However, if the department informs you after examination that the area cannot be covered under the said Act due to the requirement of providing medical arrangements within a reasonable distance to insured persons and their family members, then nothing can be done. In such a situation, you can insure your employees under the cover of insurance, such as workmen's insurance, offered by private insurance companies.
