Hello, I am Rajesh, Managing Director and Founder of Gradelister Institute for Readiness Assessment in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. I established the institute recently, and I aspire to make it a firm similar to Aspiring Minds and Co-cubes. I need to establish associations with many companies to achieve this goal. How should I proceed? How can I accomplish this? Please suggest ways for me to connect with HR contacts. Currently, I am focusing on companies in Coimbatore, Chennai, and other regions near my location.

Sir,

You must have all your marketing materials, such as brochures and pamphlets, and develop a Business Development model where various approaches are utilized - word of mouth, current business contacts, and social media to acquire new leads. If you have a BD team, allocate work according to segments.

Importance of a Business Plan

Refer back to the business plan you wrote when you established your business, which outlines how you intended to build and market your business. Or perhaps you didn't write a business plan?

Time and time again, we see requests such as yours here on CiteHR. You cannot set up a successful business without doing the planning first and establishing whether or not you have a viable business idea. Secondly, you cannot set up a successful business unless you have at least 12 months of both business expenses and living expenses saved. No business makes money from day one. Failure to plan is planning to fail.

Starting a Business: Idea or Client List?

I echo John's sentiment. Did you start the business with an idea or a list of clients? There is an old saying, "Start a shop only when you find the buyers." The vice versa is, of course, true! However, the former is a safer option.

Connect with people whom you already know. Any amount of work from them will get you started. Take referrals and testimonials from them. If you have the budget, hire sales consultants from the industry. In case you can't offer the cash, contract on the basis of profit-sharing. Their returns would be directly connected to the revenue they generate from the client.

Stay focused on building your presence. Offer sessions at HR events. It's often the best way to get noticed. Use social media to build a brand virtually. This will not earn you revenue but will establish your services in the industry. Offer demo sessions at the companies you are already connected with.

Hope this helps! Wish you all the best!
