Dear Vishehs,

You have not mentioned where the pressure gauge is installed. Pressure gauges have a variety of applications. If it is for a small air compressor, it may not be required legally, but quality system requirements like ISO/TS 16949 may still necessitate the same.

Suppose you are referring to a pressure gauge for a large container to store LPG, NG, or Chlorine; then it will be required by authorities such as Fire & Safety, Factory Inspectorate, etc.

Appreciate your reply, sir. I am talking about pressure gauges which are used in air, steam, water pipelines. If calibration required, what is a frequency? Vishal Patel

Dear Vishesh,

Steam lines above a certain pressure come under IBR purview. Air receiver vessel pressure gauges will come under Factory Inspector's purview since they are covered under unfired pressure vessels code. Water service gauges, under normal operating conditions, are not covered.

Please make a line-wise list of all gauges and get it cleared from the Factory Inspector or a qualified consultant.
