Hi Experts,

I want to know if there was a Professional Tax in Tamil Nadu for the year 2012 (Jan, Feb, March), and if yes, how much was it and during which months did companies deduct the Professional Tax.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Two times PT will be calculated and payable in TN. That means every year on March & September you need to pay PT.

It could be that the local body(Panchayat/Municipality/Corporation) is levying the tax directly from the employee. Such a system prvils in Kerala.

Dear Sir,

I am new to HR. Please help me regarding PF deductions. I am confused about the deductions and need clarification on the deduction slabs. Here are the details:

1. Less than ₹6500/-
2. Between ₹6500 and ₹10000
3. Between ₹10000 and ₹15000
4. More than ₹15000

Could you please advise on the PF deductions for each slab based on the current increment from ₹6500 to ₹15000 as the ceiling amount?

Your assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please guide me on HR PF and ESIC deductions because I am new to HR. Currently, we have 4 types of employee categories:

1. Those who are paid Rs. 5000-6400 per month
2. Those who are paid Rs. 6500-10000 per month
3. Those who are paid Rs. 10000-15000 per month
4. Those who are paid over Rs. 15000-35000 per month

How can I calculate PF deductions on these pay ranges? I am aware that the deduction rate is 12% and the ESIC rate is 1.75% for employees.

Dear Sir,

EPF should be deducted from employees' gross salary (except HRA) at 12%. The PF limit is now Rs. 15,000.

ESIC should also be deducted from the gross salary (except Washing Allowance) at a rate of 1.75%. The ESIC limit is Rs. 15,000.

Calculation:
- PF Deduction: Rs. 15,000 * 12/100 = Rs. 1,800
- ESIC Deduction: Rs. 15,000 * 1.75/100 = Rs. 263

Thank you.
