I request you to clarify the weekly off under the AP Shops & Establishment Act (Section 19 Holidays: 1). Every employee in any establishment shall be allowed a holiday of one whole day each week. It is provided that nothing in this sub-section shall apply to any employee whose total period of employment in the week, including any days spent on authorized leave, is less than six days.

Does this mean an employee must be present for duty for six days in a week to be entitled to the weekly off?

Week Off Clarification

Please provide information about the week off. My question is, in the closing month (March), is it necessary to come and work on an off day like Sunday? According to my company norms, Saturday is a half day, and the timing is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Is it necessary to work the whole day because my Branch Manager (BM) told us to do so? If the company will not provide any extra bonus for working extra hours, why should we work? Please provide an appropriate answer.
