Developing a Saturday Off Policy
This is Vijendra, working in a steel industry which is an MNC. As per the demand from our employees, we are going to develop a Saturday off policy in the company. Presently, we work six days a week between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. We would like to introduce Saturday off for all the support staff as this is followed in other countries of our Group. Can anyone share their views and suggestions on how to develop this policy? We want to convince both management and employees with valid reasons and suggestions.
Thank you.
With best regards,
Vijendra

You can go ahead with a 5-day working week, but please ensure that the minimum working hours per week are maintained. It will be tough to convince the management, so take extra precautions while presenting it to them. Lastly, never compare what other countries are doing. Instead, look into the laws and rules of your own country first. If it permits, then explore other options.
