My dad had a finance company and worked there. Now, the company needs to be closed, and my father wants to retire. I now need a job, and here is my problem.
As a part of the company, I was only getting a meager salary since we were trying to direct the profits of the company towards its growth. As a result, a lot of my salary went for the betterment of the company. Now, I want to apply to the job market. What will be my salary?
- Will they understand my plight and pay me a market salary because of this reason?
- Will employer HR be willing to consider my profile since I have been receiving a poor salary, or will it impact?

Factors Influencing Salary Decisions
While selecting a job candidate, HR or employers look at the candidate's suitability for the position, the competencies required, and then decide on the salary. Secondly, the position for which you apply also matters. Past salary is one of the factors to consider when deciding on the remuneration, but it is not the only deciding factor.
Since you have worked in your father's company, you must have gained exposure to various aspects of the business such as operations, finance, purchasing, marketing, etc. Utilize your knowledge and project an absolutely confident posture. Instead of being led by HR or nurturing imaginary fears, command your desired salary confidently.
All the best!
