I was an employee at Prompt Personnel Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. A few days ago, I was suddenly asked to leave the job. As stated by management, I left the job. Now, when I am asking for my salary, they are saying that I have not completed my exit formalities. Also, as mentioned by management, I have surrendered ID cards and visiting cards, etc., which I collected during my employment period. Nothing except this was given to me. Furthermore, when I requested the director to release my salary as I am facing a financial crisis, he is saying, "It is in HR's hands."

Please suggest to me on this.

At the time of discharge, the employer ought to have paid your dues unless any loss has been caused by you. Please refer to the Bombay Shops and Establishment Act in this regard. Even under the Payment of Wages Act, if your salary was less than Rs 18,000 per month, you can approach the inspector under the Act.

Thanks,
