I don't know, but I have seen scales like 5500-175-9000, which means in the specific grade your basic starts at 5000 with a yearly increment of 175 in basic, max to 9000. Something like that, I am not sure. Look out for Swami's handbook.

Well, it says an increment of a minimum of Rs 100 every year for three years, and after three years, the minimum increment would be Rs 125 for another three years, and so on. There can be variations in the increment depending on performance, but it will not fall below the prescribed limit.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

You start at 4000 with three increments of 100 each, leading to 4300. Then, three increments of 125 lead to 4675 from 4300. This progression continues until reaching the top of the scale at 6250.

To move from a basic pay of 4300 to 6250 per month, one would need 15 years or 15 increments, with the increments starting at 100, then increasing to 125, 150, and finally 200.

I hope this explanation makes sense!

Guru

Hi,

It can be illustrated as:

Basic is 4000 with a yearly increment of Rs. 100 for 3 years until it reaches 4300. After that, it will be increased yearly by 125 for 3 years until it reaches 4675. Subsequently, it will be increased yearly by 150 for 3 years until it reaches 5125, and then by 175 for 3 years until it reaches 5650, and so on, reaching 6250.

Hi Shakeela,

The pay scale under reference is 4000-100(3)-4300-125(3)-4675-150(3)-5125-175(3)-5650-200(3)-6250. This scale may be applicable to various employees with different basics.

It states that employees falling in this scale will have a starting basic of 4000 with an annual increment as indicated next to it. The number in brackets signifies the years for which the increment amount will be given. After that, it moves to the next slab starting with a different increment amount, which continues for the specified number of years in the consecutive bracket.

Therefore, an employee starting from this scale will have a basic of 4000, while another employee in the same scale but six years senior will have a basic of 4675.

Dear Sir,

This pertains only to the basics. What about the other allowances? For example, I need to determine a pay scale for a Driver for his remaining service, who is earning 7000/- gross per month, with 60% as basic pay and the remaining 40% as allowances. Kindly advise.

Regards, Madhan.

There are separate circulars each for DA, ADA, HRA, Med.A etc. etc. As per his/her eligibility these will be applicable which are not stated in the pay scale.
