Dear Sir/Madam, I post a "thought of the day" on a daily basis to motivate employees, sending it to their email IDs. Additionally, on weekends, I send a motivational short story. However, starting from the new year, I am looking to implement something new to inspire and encourage employees on a daily basis. Kindly suggest.

Thanks & Regards,
Menaka

Any activity gains popularity if people get involved by themselves rather than being directed by others. You can invite suggestions from your own people regarding the thought for the day. Since you have taken the lead until this year, for a change, why not let them tell the story? Let it even be a movie as long as it provides some moral or entertaining value.

If your company has a sizable number of employees, you can ask them to speak on a topic of their interest (something other than company jobs). The frequency can be once a month or every 15 days, depending on your choice and management’s consent.

Make sure that you extend all help to make these programs successful.

Regards,

Creativity not only instills a zest to work effectively but also provides a platform to showcase inherent talents. Remember this while designing any employee engagement activity; you must keep this in mind.

Sending a thought for the day is a nice effort, but are you sure everybody even opens it? Let's say you want to stick to the email activity, and everyone has access to broadband/wifi/internet connection (with speed!). I suggest browsing through a few short videos (animated/short films, etc.) related to HRD or any topic of your choice. Send it across, asking people to vote, rate, or comment on it. Once you get a pulse of the crowd, develop your next activity based on it. You may plan the activities in four phases (one for every quarter, with each successor evolving from the predecessor!).

(P.S.: For starters, send funny/ironic videos.)
