Hi all, I would like to seek guidance from experienced members about labor laws applicable to foreign nationals working in India. If a foreign national is appointed by a foreign company for a construction project (which is a joint venture with an Indian company) in India, do Indian labor laws apply to him? Can you please point out the applicable laws?

Indian labor laws are not applicable to foreign employees because they are appointed on a contract basis rather than a permanent basis. Typically, their appointments are for a specific period of time. It would be interesting to hear other members' views on this matter.
