Our company provided a netbook/laptop to our salesman. We have an asset grant form, but it only contains basic details. Unfortunately, one of the staff members did not take care of the device well, causing hardware damage. Can anyone help me as I am looking for the agreement or policy to implement terms & conditions for using company assets? This is to raise awareness among users to be more responsible and to understand how to take care of company assets.

Seeking further advice. Thank you.

There are three conditions under which assets deteriorate: normal wear and tear, accidental damage, and negligence by the custodian. I recommend conducting an inquiry to determine if the asset deterioration was due to negligence. If so, you may impose a penalty against the defaulting employee. When imposing the penalty, ensure that you consider the depreciation of the asset's economic value.
