Hi, I got a job in a leading organization which has more than 1,000 employees. My designation is an officer, and my main role is welfare management. They have agreed to pay me a take-home salary of 10,000 (I am a fresher). I am curious about the career growth and pay prospects in the HR field. Can you please provide some insights on this?

Employee welfare management is also a part of HR. I hope it is better to consider this option, and you should strive to learn more to prove that you are the right person. Moreover, you should also enhance your knowledge in other areas of HR to further your career.

Thank you.

The career growth and pay are directly proportional to your knowledge, skills, and talent in HR. I agree with Mr. Jeevratnam that employee welfare is an important function of HR and you can pursue it. However, if you are burning with ambition to climb the career ladder and to have a fat purse, you need to diversify your skills into other areas of HR like manpower planning, talent management, training needs analysis, employee engagement, performance evaluation/management, IR, statutory compliances, and policy conceptualizing, etc. You need to seize the opportunities that come your way or create them (wherever possible) to acquire an all-around talent. The market is scarce of talent.
