Only plantations, software industries, and catering industries have a few applicable exclusive legislations; otherwise, all manufacturing units will come under common labor laws such as gratuity, ESI, PF, Factories Act, etc.

Basically, in Tamil Nadu, the Standing Orders Act (if the unit does not have any CSO), Minimum Wages Act (for Textile apprentices), Factories Act, ESI, EPF, Payment of Wages Act, etc., are a few acts relating to labor employment. There are other acts relating to Electricity, Pollution, Town Planning, etc. The provisions of these acts and their corresponding state rules are applicable.
