The exhaust fan type and specifications are not defined by any law or any IS standard. The direction can be based on the hazard identified. What you need to consider for the selection of an exhaust fan is:
1. Capacity in CFM
2. Pressure drop
3. The nature of the chemical for which the vessel is used.
4. In some cases, you need to purge inert gases to decontaminate the effects of the chemical.
5. You may need to have a forced circulation (add an additional blower to purge air).
6. Usually, the conditions would be given in the MSDS of the chemical being stored.
