Hi,
My friend and I are interested in starting a partnership firm. Many suggestions given here have been helpful to us. I need some clarification regarding the following matters:
I want to name my company "Live Tour Company." Are there any restrictions on using "Live Touring Company" as the name for my firm? Additionally, I would like to know how to register the firm and trademarks. Kindly suggest.
Regards,
Vishnu

When you go to open a CURRENT ACCOUNT in the name of "Live Tour Company" or "Live Touring Company," the bank will ask you to produce a paper from any government agency where the name is shown as "Live Tour Company," such as a PAN CARD, any license, or certificate from the registrar, etc. However, you may have difficulty finding the specific document the bank is requesting because it is possible that someone has already chosen this name, and there is an account available under the name of "Live Tour Company." In such a case, there is a restriction as you cannot use the name without a bank account since your firm needs a bank account to operate. If you manage to open a bank account in the name of "Live Tour Company," then there are no restrictions, and you have a certificate confirming that your firm's name is indeed "Live Tour Company."

Hello Vishnu,
For a partnership firm, there is no restriction on the name. You cannot use suffixes like "Private Limited" or "Limited." You need to draft a Partnership Deed and get it registered at the Registrar of Firms.
