Respected seniors,
I am Dr. Sumit Bansal, and I completed my Bachelor's in Dental Surgery in 2006. Presently, I am pursuing an MBA in HR from the University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh. I joined the MBA program primarily to enter the healthcare industry as I have always been inclined towards administration, and a management degree was crucial for this aspiration.
I would greatly appreciate guidance from experienced seniors on securing a good summer training opportunity in my preferred field and advice on the steps to take to achieve this goal.
Thanks...

I am also of the same opinion. I have completed an MBA in Hospital Administration with HR specialization. You can work as a general HR consultant for hospitals. Being a doctor will certainly be advantageous for you. You can choose to work in administration or pursue a job as an HR/Admin Manager, depending on the type and size of the hospital. Best of luck.

Thank you very much, ma'am, for your valuable inputs. Which hospital are you working in? I am based in Chd, and I think that no hospitals recruit HR personnel as such, so I'll have to go in for a hospital administration course also. What do you suggest, ma'am?

Hello,
I suggest that for your summer placement, you should aim for a big, established hospital where they have organized "hospital management" as a function. This way, you will remain in the healthcare industry and identify opportunities to use management concepts after you graduate.
Alternatively, you may consider any pharmaceutical manufacturer or industries like Nestle, Bournvita, Cadbury, which are closely related to the healthcare industry. However, you may only be able to apply management learnings there, which any student from any discipline could also do. I believe large hospitals or the pharmaceutical industry are your best options.
Even if the "hospital management" function is not organized in such an industry, you may still consider joining such an organization and pioneer work in this area.
Having said all that, where do you see yourself after you graduate and actively engage in the final placement activity? That would also be important.
