Hi, I have joined a small startup telecom firm. Could you please help me with the format for basic HR policies and procedures required? Also, could you mention what key points need to be included in the policies and procedures?

Thank you.

Starting with the Employee Handbook

It will be good to start with the employee handbook. The necessary topics to be covered under this can be found here. The handbook will address every query for a start-up firm's employees. For any further assistance, feel free to ask. I've recently finished one for a new company (won't be able to provide the same but can help to address the concern).

Regards.

At first, prepare the content list for the handbook that you need to create. Finalize those and maintain a skeleton for all policies to be included in the handbook, such as Objective, Scope/Applicability, Slabs (if any), supporting forms, and formats. Work on each policy individually and conduct benchmarking with industry specifications and government regulations. Don't forget to include any allowances for a startup company—your boss will appreciate it. Document the policies consistently and keep the content of certain topics intentionally vague (especially regarding CTC); it should not be overly precise to allow for adjustments. Best of luck with the job!
