Hi Friends,
I have completed an MBA in Finance in 2011. Now, I have secured a job as a Personal Assistant to the GM in the Sugar Industry.
I have two doubts:
1. Is this a good career path?
2. Are there opportunities for career growth for a PA?
Please, friends, I am seeking all your valuable guidance.
Regards,
Venkat

Hi Venkat.tvs1,
In my opinion, the only limit for a human is the sky. As a personal assistant, I am not sure about the type of company you work for and its profile, along with your Terms of Reference (TOR). However, as someone who started from zero and is now working as a Human Resource generalist at the UN, I can say that if you work hard, nothing is impossible for you to achieve. Do not worry and keep moving forward.
Thanks,

Dear Venkat,
In the month of May, I will conduct the training program titled "Secretaryship to Managership." One of the topics of discussion would be career planning for secretaries. You are invited to attend this training program, which will take place in Bangalore. Although it is being marketed by another training company, they may also promote it in other cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
Thanks,
Dinesh V Divekar

Dear Akriti,
I regret to say that Pune's market is small, and the margins are not very high. As a result, training companies are compelled to reduce their margins. Therefore, it may not be feasible for us to conduct the program there. However, if I decide to proceed with the program in Pune, I will inform you.
Thanks,

Dear Venkat,
Why are you so worried now? There is a proverb - 'Look before you leap'. You should have decided before you joined this organization in such a position. Secondly, you are a Personal Assistant and not a 'Personnel Assistant'. Now, see - you have been working in close liaison with the Head of the Plant, and you have full access to studying all policies, proposals, financial results, and techno-commercial aspects of the company. It will enrich your overall knowledge of Business administration. So, friend, dive into the sea and explore the vast opportunities. We are sure that if you spiritually devote yourself to the day-to-day functions of the company, you will definitely enrich yourself, and your prospects will be higher in the near future. Don't look back and devote yourself to whatever you have now.
Wishing you a prosperous working life.
Meet you soon.
